Obituary of Peter Nicholas Gerardus Buren

Peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 12^th, 2021 at University Hospital, Peter Buren of Delaware in his 80^th year. 

Beloved husband for 57 years of Irene Buren.  Loving father of Eileen Buren, Perry (Manuela) Buren, Ron (Samantha) Buren, and Peter (Nicole Vritsios) Buren.  Proud OPA of Jeremy (Kelsey) O’Callaghan, Amber (Lewis) O’Callaghan, James (Amanda) O’ Callaghan, Caitlin (Luke) O’Callaghan, Jake (Laura) Buren, Luke Buren, Benjamin (Céline) Buren, Ashley (Cody) Koester, Jordan (Spencer) Buren, Abigail (Brandon) Buren, Seth (Danica) Buren, Nicholas Buren and Tori Buren.  Loving great OPA of Jack, Mara, and Keiran.  Dear brother of Joyce Haakman, Dora (Lambert) Smeets, Trudy Lenssen, and Margaret Verhoeven.  Survived by his sisters in law Pat Buren and Marlies Buren and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his siblings Ida Schreurs, Lawrence Buren, Cays Buren, Rita Freeman and his brothers and sisters in law John Haakman, Jan Schreurs, Louis Lenssen, Edward Verhoeven, and Frank Freeman and his niece and nephews Anthony, Jacob, Zara and Nicholas.  

Family will receive friends at the Elliott-Madill Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 15^th, 2021 from 2 -4 and 7 – 9 pm. Social distancing and masks are required at all services. Mass celebrating Peter’s life will be held at All Saints Parish, 124 Front Street East, Strathroy on Thursday, December 16^th commencing at 11 am.  Father Thom Blondin officiating.  Interment Sacred Heart in the Fields Cemetery, Mount Brydges. Outdoor reception to follow. Please dress for the weather and bring a lawn chair.
