My deepest sympathies to the Buren family on the passing of Peter. The Buren family was such a big part of my youth, whether by friendship, school, sports, church, family visits, employment (yeah, the guy with the shoulder pads), and Peter was always present as a great role model, providing leadership, guidance and love. Peter is most definitely in a much better place now. Admiring his many accomplishments (not limited to the awesome “in the jungle, the mighty jungle” family performance) in his passing make me strive to improve upon my own.

The last time I saw Peter Buren was in Wendy’s restaurant at Southdale and Wonderland in London. We said hello to each other and I noticed he was sitting by himself. I think he was eating fries and he said to me, don’t tell my family you saw me here. I’m not supposed to be eating fast food. I laughed and promised to keep his secret. I figured it wouldn’t do any harm to share it now. Peter was a very attentive father to Eileen throughout the years. Always helping her with anything around the house in Campbellvale. I remember my son Riley going skating on Opa’s rink with James. He was a great grandfather. It would be nice if my Riley was one of the many there to greet him. Your family is my thoughts and prayers.

Peter and Irene lead the folk choir at Sacred Heart Church in Delaware, for many years, during my teenage years and I have fond memories of those special times. Rest in Peace Peter
