Obituary of Lois Grant

On Friday, 24 April 2020, Lois Elaine Grant, only child of Harold and Hazel Heal, loving wife, Mother and Nana passed away at age 88. Lois grew up in Port Stanley, Ontario. Her father, Harold, was the town Barber and her mother, Hazel, ran a dairy bar during the war. Lois often shared memories of family holidays with her parents on a sailing ship up the St Lawrence River, special times with her Aunt Annie who lived next door, her Grandmother Ellen, and her cherished cat McBeth. Lois graduated from Alma College in 1950 and worked at the University of Western Ontario. Lois married Malcolm Eugene Grant (1930-2015) in 1951, and they raised three children, Cameron (1961-1997), Ellen (1963) and Melinda (1966). Lois was a real estate agent in London for over twenty years and ran her own company, Grant and McKay, with her dear friend June McKay. Lois played bridge with the bridge club and she and Mac loved to travel south in the winter. Lois’ Grandchildren brought her great joy; Julian, Andrea, Olivia, Logan, Amanda, and her new great grand-baby, Alec. Her Grandchildren have fond memories of a warm and loving “Nana.” Lois is remembered for her wisdom, her compassion, and her steady and unconditional love for her family. Lois suffered dementia and was lovingly cared for at Country Terrace in Komoka for five years. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Daycare Program at McCormick Home (2022 Kains Rd., London, ON) are warmly accepted.
