Obituary of Jan Bron

BRON, Jan “John”

On Wednesday, January 31, 2018 John Bron, at the age of 83, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Saviour with family by his side at the LHSC-Victoria Hospital. Loving husband of Winnifred “Winnie” (nee Feenstra) for over 60 years. Beloved father of Allen (Brenda) Bron, Janet (John) Drent, Judy (Peter) Kielstra, Bill (Cindy) Bron. Always lovingly remembered as Grandpa by his 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

John was born in Wolvega, Netherlands in 1934. Leaving the 4th Artillary Division of the Dutch Army was a difficult decision to make in order to immigrate with his family to Edmonton, Alberta in 1955. In 1957 he married Winnie and they lived in Mt. Brydges for their first 50 years where he worked as the baker and owner of Sunshine Bakery. He loved his job and enjoyed meeting the public. He shared his love for music by being a part of choirs and playing the baritone in the Western University New Horizons Band. He took his relationship with the Lord very seriously as he was involved in various church and Christian school leadership roles. In all of life he demonstrated his “servant leadership” calling, whether it be in taking care of the needs of family, friends or neighbours. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A private service for the immediate family will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses involved in John (Dad’s) care at both Victoria and University Hospitals. Your kindness and compassion has been very much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Kidney Foundation
