What a beautiful life he had and I loved reading the story about John's life.
Not long ago I stopped to visit John on my way to Windsor. We had lunch, visited Anne, toured a few of John's favourite country roads, including a stop for coffee at one of his favourite spots in Mt Brydges. John knew everyone there and they knew him. As a friend of Sue, John had a way of making me feel at ease right away, because a friend of Sue's was also a friend of John's.
I feel honoured that I had the chance to see that sparkle in his eye when he was joking around. I remember the goats in the old barn, that seemed more like pets and Bear the dog, who was twice my size, but just as gentle as John.
My sympathies to Anne, Sue, John and the whole family at the loss of such a fine man.

Dear Anne, Sue and Little John; There are no words to express how we feel about the loss of John.
There were so many good times going into the store and having talks with John and Anne.
Talking about John working with my Zeze on the Pop trucks in Windsor, Anne and I taking out first airplane ride together to Calgary.Talking about the great recipes that were handed down from our Baba's.
We cannot make it, but our thoughts, prayers and love are being sent to all of you and your families.
Take care and at least John won't be suffering any longer.

The news of John's passing fills me with deep sadness, and with both fond and very difficult memories of not only the wonderful man John was, but also of Mike who was like a brother to me...and who was taken far too early.
John was a man whose presence & persona is matched by very few and I could only wish that the world had more people like him.
I loved the notice as it did a wonderful job of conveying the essence of my friend...John Fekete.

Our sincere regrets to Anne, Sue and John. Have known John and family for almost 40 years. From the Christina store days to John and Anne retiring to the farm I have many fond memories. As neighbour, friend and true gentleman we will miss him. He was always truly interested in our farming and what was going on in our family and our ever changing neighbourhood. Forever active it seemed like he was always pruning those front yard fruit trees and cutting the grass on his John Deere lawnmower. Ironically John and the mower were deteriorating together with John ending up in the nursing home. About a month ago, we had a visit sitting outside on a sunny day in a weakening condition but still had that ever present sense of humour.
The obituary write up captured John completely ----he will be missed.

On behalf of the Grantham family we extend our sincerest condolences to Anne, Susan and John. We have so many memories of spending time at Christina Store, it was like a second home. John loved to tease us but had the kindest heart. I will be forever grateful to John for getting Cheryl and I out of a little scrape as teenagers. And he did so with a gleam in his eye and I'm sure he laughed about it for many many years after. Rest in peace good neighbour.

John always held a special place in my heart. Growing up next to Christna store, I spent a lot of time "shopping" for chocolate bars, chips and pop and just hanging out with my friends, John & Anne. They were like second parents to me and John got me out of a lot of predicaments I got myself into. I will never forget the glimmer in his eyes and the smile on his face. Truly one of the sweetest men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Rest in peace my friend......

I remember the twinkle in his eye, going to Christina Store..buying candy, looking at clothes, asking questions, hearing jokes and catching the Geeyhound to London. We loved and will miss him so much ......He was like a father to me ....... Wow, what an all around good man John was. I haven't seen him since the closing of the store. I remember going in there with my dad (Warren Huff) and John would let me ring up our stuff and then pay me with a lil treat for working so hard! He always made us laugh and had such powerful positive energy. He impacted my life at such a young age and I have never and will never forget him.
My condolences are with his family and friends at this time.
