Obituary of Elma Margaret Fennema
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother Elma Fennema (nee Howlett) at Strathmere Lodge, formerly of Mount Brydges, on Friday December 1st, 2023, in her 84th year. Loving wife for 42 years of the late Minze Fennema (2002).
Proud mother of Diane, Helen (John Allison) and Sharon (Jeff) Clark. Elma would take every opportunity to “grab her sweeties”, cherishing her grandchildren Daniel (Erin Creed), Lauren and Ryan Allison, Mikayla (Don McLachlan), Kyle and Janine Clark. Affectionately remembered by 3 great grandchildren: Serenity, Victoria, and Reagan McLachlan.
Dear sister of Bill Howlett and sisters-in-law Jesse, Betty, Aukje Fennema D’Amore and brother-in-law Lloyd Kettlewell. Predeceased siblings Stuart Howlett, Bernice (Roy) Whiting, Don Howlett, Bell Kettlewell, and sister-in-law Shirley Howlett, and brother-in-law Henk (Inge) Fennema.
Elma was a kind and accepting person who enjoyed her time with family, friends, and the community. Elma was a devoted member of the Komoka United Church for 43 years and delighted in the many interactions with the fellow residents of Komoka Mallot Seniors Apartment before moving to Strathmere Lodge. She also enjoyed many outings with special caregiver and friend, Pat Nunes and spending time with her longtime friends Helen Tountas and Gail Irwin.
Elma’s family would like to thank the staff at Strathmere Lodge for the excellent care and compassion provided during her stay.
As per Elma’s wishes, a private family interment will take place at Campbell Cemetery, Komoka with dedicated Reverend Wayne Kent officiating.
If desired, remembrances may be made to the Komoka United Church or Strathmere Lodge’s Palliative Care Unit. Elliot Madill Funeral Home, Mount Brydges entrusted with arrangements. www.elliottmadill.com
