I was watching Still Standing and the show about Oneida on the Thames tonight and was reminded of Don so I looked him up only to find out about his recent passing.
I am so very, very sorry to hear about his early death. I met Don over 25 years ago when working for a local mental health agency. He would bring me to the community, welcome me, ask about my family and share his pride in his own family and his community's achievements. We would part and he would call me again after the passage of much time and remember so much of our previous discussions.
He was warm, inclusive and had many positive and kind words for others. I always felt better after an interaction with Don. I'm very glad to have known him and am so very sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Trix Van Egmond

To Don's family, please accept our condolences on Don's passing. He took the time to meet our parents Ken and Gwen, who were Fred's adopted parents. Don was a kind and caring man. Fred died in 2009, way too soon and we miss him always.
