Obituary of Leonard Teddy Jewell

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Leonard Teddy Jewell of Barrie, original home and resting place Oneida Nation of the Thames, in his 83rd year on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

Beloved husband of the late Reva Jewell (2011).  Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children Allen (Gwen Johnston-Jewell), Angela, Shelly, Anthony, Donnie (Donna Evans), Darren, Lynn Jewell-Hammie (Troy Hammie), and Lee Dennis. 

Proud Papa of 21 grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Christie, Andrea, Jake, Jade, Zack, Brittany, Alanah, Shaelynn, Skyla, Kolton, Quin , Angel Johnston, Alan Johnston, Amanda Coull, Shawn Alexander, Meagan Evans, Breeanna Evans, Emily Bourne, and Grace Reed. 

Proud Big Papa of 14 great grandchildren, T’jaiyah Munroe, Tiana Munroe, Taniyah Munroe, Odin Jewell, Hayden Jewell, Spencer White, Hadley White, Riley Johnston, Johnny Coull, Nova Coull, Willow Coull, Aurora Evans, Phoenix Evans, and Sirius Evans.

Dear brother of the late Betty Reycraft (2000), survived by Sandy, Bill, Russell, Leslie, Terry, Melita Jewell-Sparks, Debbie, and Beatrice Nicholas.

Survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family will receive friends at the Longhouse, 1035 River Road, (Southwold) Oneida, on Saturday, April 1st from 2pm-7pm. Also at the Longhouse, the Celebration of Leonard’s life will be held Sunday, April 2nd commencing at 11am. Interment Fellowship Baptist Cemetery, Oneida. Gathering at Community Centre in Oneida to follow.

The family of Leonard Jewell wish to thank the staff at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for all the time they spent with Leonard even though it was short, and the care they gave during the heartbreaking final moments of Leonard’s wonderful life.

All expressions of sympathy, including flowers, honorary donations to a favourite charity, and cards are welcome.
