Obituary of Freeman Elijah

Peacefully with his family by his side at Brampton Civic Hospital on Saturday, November 6th, 2021, Freeman Elijah of the Onondaga Deer Clan, and a resident of Oneida Nation of the Thames in his 64th year. 

Loving father of Alicia, Christopher, Sahgowee, Sogweelis, Tekalhututi, Yolutatek, Yonnstahawi, Kakwilahele, Otsihstokwiio, Shakokwilunyani, Yewehnitahawi, Yakoliniyosta, and the late Beradette.  Proud grandpa of several grandchildren. Dear brother of Alvina and Denise. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Dennison and Jean (nee: John) Elijah and his siblings Ellington, Linwood, Aldy, Daniel, Harley, Linda, Alby, Texas, Darlene, Robert, Nikita, Cora, and Lloyd.  Freeman was a Legendary singer of Haudenosaunee traditional music. 

Family will receive friends at 1929 Fairgrounds Road, Oneida on Monday, November 8th after 2 pm.  A Celebration of Freeman’s Life will be held on Tuesday at the River Road Longhouse commencing at 11 am.  Interment Longhouse Cemetery, Oneida Road.  Elliott-Madill Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.  www.elliottmadill.com
