My Beautiful Grandma Sunflower
I think of you every time I knit, puzzle, or crochet.
I remember you when I hear piano music and sing harmonies with my family
You coloured so many aspects of my childhood and were present for so many of my early memories that I have so much of you still, in my heart.
I remember you overseeing me 'helping' with Patricks first bath, going to the Woolco $1.44 days from Zurich, chatting with Grandpa on the CB ... "Moonflower, this is Sunflower, get back"
I miss you now, and often
Thank you for being such a strong and always positive and pragmatic example for me, no matter the challenges you had to face. You always made them seem manageable, and it is far into adulthood that I realize just how many there may have been.
xoxo

My heart goes out to all of you.
I loved your Mom, Grandma (Great Grandma)
as a Mom, a great lady, a wonderful Mother.
With all she accomplished, had on her plate,
her strength, warmth & patience shone through.
There was no doubt where her main interest lay.
Pictures of her family were everywhere.
I'm saddened to know she is gone, but glad she was
so loved, cared for and comfortable in her fading days.
The doing of that is sometimes no small accomplishment.
I salute you who had that privilege, with heart-felt condolences,
and offer this ...little poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye (1904-2004)
- however interpreted, I find it comforting & uplifting in my way:
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken
in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
Put away sadness. Celebrate the life of your
Mom/ Grandma/ Great Grandma, and she will
live on, and be pleased at your rejoicing.

Dear Mom,
So, now you’ve gone, ... and we remain.
But, ... you needn’t worry a bit - you can trust that we will all be fine! Totally fine!
By just being you, you’ve taught us well.
You’ve taught us:
To be strong - (some would say stubborn) - and do things our own way, whether others agreed or not.
And also to know when to be flexible,
and compassionate, and forgiving, and loving.
And to take care of others, ... and to put ourselves last.
You’ve taught us:
To be resourceful and thrifty so we can take care of ourselves,
And also to know when we have to give in and accept others’ wisdom,
and support, and advice, and help.
You’ve taught us:
To be grateful and appreciate the blessings we enjoy - no matter how small they may be.
And to share with others who are less fortunate.
You’ve taught us:
To strive and struggle and sacrifice for the best future possible, but also when to say
“Oh, never mind - it’ll do!”
Yes, you were good at knowing when good enough was good enough.
You’ve taught us
To love and laugh and joke at life’s foibles,
and to greet every new day with a broad, and generous, and welcoming smile.
Yes, Mom, you have given us truly valuable lessons and wonderful memories that will help us and our children carry on
for many wonderful generations to come.
Bravo and Thank you!
You worked hard all your life: you never gave in, and you never gave up.
But now I’m thinking that you truly deserve a break. So, go for it! Bon Voyage, Momma.
Big fat hugs and love.
Audrey, Daughter # 2

I spent time with Marjorie at Rockwood. Sharon MacDonald and I spent our days at the table in the big sitting room, Marjorie would often drop by to asK us a question and sometimes even sit for awhile.
Before COVID I would see her in the hall and make her smile and tell her how beautiful she was and she returned my love to her by a hug and the most beautiful smile.
One day Marjorie left the building and no matter what anyone did she would not come back. I asked if I could try and they said by all means. I remember it so well I walked up to her and said Marjorie I went looking for you to show you my new top. She smiled at me and said well we should walk back, she took my arm and off we went.
Marjorie has joined her Mom and Dad and her husband that she spent so much time looking for.

Marjorie was one of the actors when I was the Public Health Nurse in Huron County and we put on Fall Prevention play as "The Huron Rising Stars". We then continued as "Growing Older, Bolder" and had an absolute ton of fun traveling throughout Huron and beyond. Marjorie loved the acting and she was good at it. Marjorie and Lloyd were also holiday buddies for my late husband Charlie and myself as we took our RVs to different sites. I have a number of photos and a thousand memories of those mini-vacations. Then they got a permanent site and I started working in Grey/Bruce. I did leave a card at the house a couple of times, but we lost touch. I am so happy to see that she lived so long and well. My condolences to the family. She always talked so highly and lovingly about her family. She was one great lady.

When Mom sold her house to move into a Senior's home, she had so many hand knitted sweaters of every size and colour to give away. The balls of wool just waiting for Mom's needles to turn them into a lovely 'out of my head' design. Oh, how she loved to knit!

To all of our Snelgrove cousins, on behalf of mom, who is saddened and thinking about her younger sister’s passing. She asked that we extend her sympathies to all of you and your families during this time.. She said she remembers how close your mom and her were to each other growing up (two peas in a pod) is how she described, and even though distance separated them as they married and raised all of us, the sisterly love never changed.
