I would like to extend my deep sympathy to Elda's family. I knew Elda many years ago. We were students together at Western University, and we worked on an Oneida language booklet together. She was a very kind, caring and extremely intelligent woman, from whom I learned a lot, most of all, the importance of having a generous spirit, being proud of one's heritage, and preserving one's language. I always hoped I would see her again someday. I still have a rag doll that she sewed for me that I will always, always treasure. Elda was a truly wise woman, who was ahead of her time. I hope her memory will always be kept alive.
