Mr Serrarens was our teacher during our time at Sir Arthur Carty Catholic School. He first taught me, Louise, the year I started at the school in grade three. I remember how proficient he made all of us in math. And the excitement he created for all of us by bringing a computer into the classroom. Mostly I will remember the leadership and compassion he showed a class of young and heartbroken kids when we lost one of our beloved classmates, Kelly Northey, to cancer. That has stayed with me ever since. We both felt impacted for the better having "Sir" as a teacher and we extend our deepest condolences to all who loved and will miss him.

Mr. Serrarens was my grade four teacher at Our Lady of Loudes many years ago. I think he was one of the first male teachers there. We were instructed to call him "Sir". He had a deadly aim with a piece of chalk if a student was horsing around or not paying attention and I seem to remember a few students whose knuckles felt the back of his ruler. I remember him being the technology guy of the time as well. Joined by Ken Schenkel and Bruce Sharpe shortly after, they were quite the group under the watchful eye of Maria Depudyt. It was a different time....the school was small...all the students knew each other...you made all the school teams because of numbers and there was a lot of fun to be had. I remember as a "Grade Eight Girl" piling into the back of "Sirs" little convertible to go to the public school to cheer on the football team. Good memories.
My condolences to all of the family for your loss.

I have wonderful memories of Kees.
He taught our youngest, Heather, in grade five.
I worked with him at Our Lady Immaculate Catholic school. We had so much fun at staff parties. Kees & Gini hosted a great one where we had karioke!
So sad to hear of his passing.
Wishing Gini and family, condolences from Lou and I.
May your memories give you joy and strength.
Love, Mary Jansen
