Eva Marlatt

Obituary of Eva Mae Marlatt

Eva Mae Marlatt

Passed after a brief and sudden illness on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in her 99th year at Ashwood Manor, in south west London, Ontario. Eva married Owen B. Marlatt in 1942 and remained happily married until his death in 2003. She is survived by their son, Gregory Marlatt (Elizabeth Howson) of Toronto, their daughter Pamela Annable (Peter) of Port Dover, and three grandchildren, Darryl Annable (Erin) of Simcoe, Carrie (Jason Kovacs) of Hamilton, and Trevor Marlatt of Toronto, plus an extended family.

Eva (née Brodie) was born on the last day of 1918 in Caradoc Township, Middlesex County. True to her Scottish heritage, she greatly valued education. She graduated from Grade 13 at age 15 during the depression, narrowly missing a university scholarship. She felt fortunate to join the office staff at London Life where she worked until starting a family after the war. She was active in the community, in particular enjoying teaching Sunday School at Lambeth United Church for many years. She assisted her husband as bookkeeper for his business and served a similar role with Merrymount Children’s Centre. At age 69, she achieved a life-long dream by earning a B. A. from Western University (with honours), after years of part time studies.

She lived her life with grace and dignity in a friendly and cheerful manner. Eva will be missed by all of those that she touched.

The family sincerely thanks Dr. Sunderji, the nurses and staff at Ashwood Manor where Eva resided happily for the past seven years.

The memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday December 9, 2017 at Lambeth United Church, 4268 Colonel Talbot Road, London, preceded by visitation commencing at 1 pm and with a reception to follow at the church. A private interment will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution in her name to Lambeth United Church or a charity of your choice.
