Obituary of Donald Bruce McDougall

At home in London on Tuesday March 28th, 2017. Donald "Spike" Bruce McDougall in his 84th year passed away of natural causes. Predeceased by mother Edna (nee Shields) and father John “Sandy”. Dear father of daughter Diane and son Ronald. Dear Father In-Law of Cathy. Predeceased by sisters Ruth and Beth, brothers Beverly and Alex. Survived by sister Margaret. Dearly missed grandfather of Julia, Morgan, Madalyn, Leeann and Danielle. Great Grandfather of Jace. Will be sadly missed by nephews John, Ross, Greg and Wayne. Nieces Linda, Barbara, and Pat. Don was a proud member of Lions Club International. He was a Charter member of the Delaware Lions Club in 1971. He received the President’s Award in 1972 and the Governor’s Award in 1978. He loved helping others and his selfless dedication to the Lions was one of his most rewarding life accomplishments. He was particularly passionate about helping the blind. “Once a Lion always a Lion”. Don had a rewarding 35 year career working as a manager for the LCBO in various stores, including Strathroy, Lambeth and London. He was a trusted friend to many of his co-workers over the years. Friends will be received by family at the Elliott-Madill Funeral Home, Mt. Brydges on Tuesday April 4th from 1pm to 3pm. A Lion's Club service will be held at 2pm. At Don’s request, his ashes will be buried next to his beloved mother in Longwoods Cemetery, Melbourne, Ontario on Monday April 3 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Leader Dogs For The Blind
