Obituary of Wilhelmus Johannes Gubbels

Peacefully with his family by his side at Strathroy Hospital on the evening of Sunday, December 1st, 2024 Bill Gubbels of Mount Brydges, a caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother passed in his 92nd year.

Bill was born in Helmond, Netherlands in 1933 immigrating to Canada in 1958 and soon purchased his pride and joy, the family farm in Mount Brydges Ontario. For the next many decades Bill and Ann would grow and raise their family on the farm, fostering his love for both their family and the farm. 

Beloved husband for 55 years of the late Ann Marie Gubbels (2013). Predeceased by his son Martin (2007). Cherished father of Marilyn Chown (Gerry); Angela (Altaf) Mawji; Anthony (Julie) Gubbels; (Rose) Gubbels; Paul Gubbels (Kim Frumau); Rosanne (Dale) Brown; & Andrew (Michelle) Gubbels. Proud and loving grandfather of Charles (Alexandra) and Justin (Christina) Dertinger; Jasmine (Hani), Nadia (Michael) and Aneel Mawji; Jordan (David), Taylor and Mackenzie (Ben) Gubbels; Matthew (Laura) and Rachel Gubbels; James, Kasey and Kaila Gubbels; Eryn, Connor and Jaime Brown; Sarah, Myah, Daniel and Leah Gubbels. Proud great grandfather of Skye, Banks, Henry, Zane, Ava, Mia, and Caiden. Dear brother of Catherine “Toos”, Pierre, Cleo, Maria, Gerard "Sra", Dora, Leonard, Gerda and Hubertus.  The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff at Strathroy Hospital for their care and compassion.

Family will receive friends at the ELLIOTT - MADILL FUNERAL HOME, Mount Brydges on Friday, December 6th, 2024 from 2 - 4 and 6-8 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated from All Saints Parish,124 Front St. E., Strathroy on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 commencing at 11:30 am.  Interment Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Mount Brydges.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, c/o Canadian Foodgrains Bank, PO Box 767, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2L4 would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
