I just found out about the passing of Joyce. I am a teacher with Thames Valley District School Board. Joyce was an incredible support to my students and always honoured their contributions in Music. She understood and advocated for kids to have Music Education because she realized the importance of it throughout her tenure with our board. I will never forget her kindness, compassion, her love for our kids and passion for their learning. Joyce always understood that music could change the world and allow people to be better humans. My sincere condolences to your family. Thank you Joyce for everything you did for our kids. I wish I had known of your passing sooner to come and pay you the proper respect you deserved. Thank you again for always showing that you care about kids.

My condolences. I got to know Joyce primarily through efforts to save the Sherwood Forest P.S from closing. Joyce was helpful to us in navigating the TVDSB procedures. Although we weren’t successful, Joyce was always helpful and polite.

My condolences to Joyce’s family. I was privileged to work with Joyce in her role as Trustee when I was with the TVDSB. Joyce was a strong advocate for all students. Her commitment to students who faced challenges and barriers in accessing educational opportunities was so evident in Joyce’s focused attention to all aspects of her role in budget discussions, policy deliberation, committee participation, and face to face engagement with families. Joyce’s compassionate and strategic leadership was based on an unwavering belief in the critical value of public education. I remain thankful for all her support and contributions.

I am so sad at the loss of our friend, Joyce. I’ve known her for over 30 years and the one thing I always could count on was her powerful advocacy for students…especially those who were not able to advocate for themselves. Her legacy as a trustee has been left in the various special education programs and policies adopted by Thames Valley. My condolences to her family members of which she was so proud.

I had the honour of serving as a trustee with Joyce for over 3 decades - she was a dedicated advocate for all students and always fought for the needs of vulnerable students, especially those with mental health and special needs. She never rubberstamped any reports she read and came to meetings prepared to ask the tough questions. She left a lasting mark on our system and will be missed. Heartfelt condolences to her family.

Condolences to Joyce's family. I met Joyce a number of years ago when I was involved with various committees with TVDSB. She was a true advocate for the students well being and was a great mentor to those of us that shared the same passion. Joyce made a difference and truly believed every child mattered. Rest in peace Joyce.
