Obituary of Howard Simeon Elijah
Passed peacefully, at University Hospital LHSC, London, Ontario on Sunday March 31st, 2024, Howard “Kaniw^tula” Elijah of Oneida Nation in his 76th year.
Loving husband of Linda Elijah. Loving father of Richard (Cindy), Kanahlunt, Sohahes (Amy Ireland).
Predeceased by son Kanihawana.
Grandfather to Tehatlu, Shakoy^teles, Kanotawaks, Teshakowanukhwa, Kastoslote, Katsitsyokus, Tekakaliyose, Yey^thokwas, Layewat, Kawyhuhati:iles. Great grandfather to Shakotshanunyatha, Amos, Norah, Nia, Lonusiyo, Loliwakat, Loluhw^stowan^.
Howard was an Oneida Nation of Wolf Clan Chief, and continued as the Principal at Tsi’Niyukwaliho:t^ Learning centre and that he will be missed by many extended family and friends across the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. He was an educator of traditional cultural Oneida teachings of friendship, respect, trust and peace.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, after 12 noon at the Longhouse, 1035 River Road, Oneida. Funeral to follow on Wednesday, April 3rd, from the Longhouse, commencing at 11 am. Interment Longhouse # 3 Cemetery, Oneida Road, Oneida.
