Obituary of Jacqueline Belva Desormeaux

Unexpectedly in London on Thursday, January 25, 2024, Jacqueline Belva Desormeaux - “Beshaangok Waabooyaan Kwe” (Striped Blanket Woman) passed, in her 50th year.

Lovingly known as “Mama Bear” to many dear friends in the London area, Jackie’s advice was “Live life to the fullest, SMILE every day and love life and those around you.”

The Granddaughter of Gary Johnson, of Cape Croker First Nation (Neyaashiinigmiing) and Belva Anderson and Harvey Anderson, of Rama First Nation (Mnjikaning), Jackie was the loving Mother to Desiree and Coty Desormeaux and Justin Antone.  Survived by her mother Teresa Desormeaux, her father Dowdall “Doc” Coulas, and the late Paul Kewakeshig.  Dear Sister of Denise Desormeaux, Tracey Coulas, Sheryl Stinson, James and Denise Kewakeshig, and Suzanne Anderson.  Sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. 

Family and friends will be received during a visitation at Elliott-Madill Funeral Home, Mount Brydges on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 12 noon-1:00pm, with a service to follow commencing at 1pm.

Cremation to follow, with a Celebration of Life and inurnment at Rama First Nation at a later date.
