Byron Believers

Who are we? We are a just a bunch of cousins, some friends and our parents. The idea of a book sale started in March 2011 when a really good friend and classmate of ours, Sarah, passed away at the age of 8yrs old after a 4 year battle with cancer. We were in Gr.3 at the time. It was a really tough time for all of us. We wanted to do something to honour her, help others, raise money for research...something, anything. We started brainstorming and finally came up with the book sale idea. We asked friends and neighbours for their help in gathering books. We were amazed at the response. Books just kept pouring in. That first year (2011) we made $675.00! The sale has grown each year and last year (2017) we raised almost $7000.00!! Half of the proceeds have always gone to Sarah's foundation for brain tumour research at SickKids Hospital. The other half of the proceeds have gone to different causes (other cancer related charities, local families dealing with cancer). In 2013 we decided to do something a little different with some of the money. Our parents took us to the London Regional Cancer Clinic to surprise patients and caregivers by paying their parking fees for the day. It was a day none of us will ever forget. We loved seeing that we were able to bring some form of joy to people going through such a difficult time. Since then, we have made this an annual trip to the Clinic. We hope to be able to continue growing and helping more people each year. It has been a great experience for us as well as our parents. Please help us continue this tradition by coming by and shopping at our sale. You won't be disappointed! There is something for everyone and the best prices ever!
