Obituary of Barbara Ruth Kluwer

Barbara Kluwer With great sadness, the family of Barbara Kluwer announce her peaceful passing on April 14th. Barb was surrounded with the love of her family, in her home in Mt. Brydges, Ontario. Beloved wife of Evert. Loving Mom to Katie (Colin), Marty (Brianna), and Bryan (Ashley). Adoring Nanny to Leandra, Hudson, Everly, Owen, Benson, Carter and Cameron. Sister of Douglas (Ulla) and Joanne (Peter). Predeceased by her parents Fred and Marion Paine. Aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, and dearest friend to many others. Barb was born in Montreal on January 26, 1952. She lived a life filled with passion for the work she did, desire for adventure, fun with her friends, and above all love and care for her family. Barb graduated from Ryerson University’s Fashion Merchandising program. She spent the majority of her career teaching Fashion Merchandising at Fanshawe College. Barb always found time to give back to the community. Most recently she volunteered her time at the Cancer Society, giving back to those fighting a battle she knew all too familiarly. She was a strong woman, a leader, a lover of fun times and gatherings with friends and family. She never hesitated to take on hosting a party if it meant everyone could get together. Most recently she and Evert hosted a roaring 20’s New Years party to ring in 2020. Barb had also organized a group of women known as the hiker chicks, where old friends and new friends got together weekly to explore the trails of southwestern Ontario, enjoy the outdoors and most of all each other’s company. As a wife, mom, and nanny to 7 grandchildren; she had endless time to spend with her family showering them with love in her own special way. Making crafts or baking with her grandkids, giving advice or lending an empathetic ear to her kids, or sharing a dance with her husband; she knew how to make everyone feel special and loved. We are so grateful for all the love and joy she brought to us. We will miss her deeply and cherish the memories she’s left us with forever. The family will host a celebration of life just the way Barb would have wanted and deserved, once it is safe to bring friends and family back together. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Barb’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. Thank you to all the family and friends who have surrounded us from a distance during this difficult time. Thank you to Dr. John Jordan, Brianna, and the palliative care team at VON for your guidance and support.
