Growing up with Leanne, Thor was a big part of my life. I would spend half my life at Leanne’s house. My favourite memories are going to work with Thor. He would bring Leanne and I to the barns while he worked on the horses, I remember watching him in awe while he would shoe the horses and thinking how strong he was to work with such big strong animals. Elaine and Thor were incredible dancers! I remember watching them jive dance to rave on at my parents parties and thinking how cool they were, couple goals for sure! The other favourite was our drives up to Goderich camping and fishing. We would sing all the way there, green alligators, Roy Orbison, Elvis, hole in the bucket and seven Spanish angels. Well, God now has his eighth angel and he is a special one. Rest in peace Thor, lots of love always.

I first met Thor over fifty years ago when I was working Coles Stables in Arva. At that time, Elaine’s father would often accompany Thor on his rounds and was always willing to lend a helping hand. When working at Brickenden Stables, when Thor finished with the horses, he was always very willing to share his expertise in other areas. He once got two metal rods from the back of his truck and proceeded to teach me how to use “witching rods” in search of water. He was truly a master of this skill.
Thor will definitely be missed by the many people who had the pleasure to know him.
Elaine and family - I hope the many wonderful memories you have of Thor will give you some comfort at this difficult time. Steve Johnson

My earliest memories of Thor was my sister and I shouting to my Mom “Thor’s here!” As we ran to the barn to the barn to meet his truck. He was always smiling and happy and spoke to us like we mattered to him.
He was an incredible horseman whose opinion we valued and trusted. When the time came to purchase my kids’ first ponies, we didn’t do a pre-purchase, we asked Thor to come look at them (which he graciously did). Once we had his approval, we bought them. And then it was my turn to have my kids’ shout “Thor’s here!” and run to the barn excited to see him.
I learned so much from Thor and now that I have spent most of my lifetime in horses and have seen so much more, I truly understand the gift he had in his ability to see the horses and their needs, had the patience and understanding to solve their issues and the peaceful energy he transferred to the horses.
Elaine and Leanne and family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your wonderful husband and father with us. He will be missed but remembered with love, respect and gratitude.

My wonderful, amazing uncle Thor is now in heaven and I’m sure having the best of times. Knowing him, he is making everyone laugh and coming up with the best stories. He has probably already found a way to be playfully and naughty the way he was in life.
Since I grew up in Norway and he lived in a Canada, there was limited opportunities to visit. All precious's visits are a treasure to remember. Thor and Elaine came to Norway and we had the most spectacular water wars. Thor could run faster than anyone and would sneak up on my brother and I when we least expected it. There would be ice cubes down the back and all kinds of fun things.
As a young teenager I spent a whole summer with Thor and Elaine in Mt Brydges. What an amazing time! I could not imagine anything better than to spend all day with the best farrier in London. Not only did he teach me about trimming and shoeing horses, but he had a wealth of knowledge about anything related to horses. Thor was lightening smart, he really dwelled on things and developed a deep understanding of horses both physically and mentally. He had a special connection with all horses, but especially he’s favorite stallion Tonka. He is still an inspiration now that I have 5 horses myself.
Thor loved all animals and they somehow knew that. He could make friends with feral cats and other creatures. He especially loved birds and there would be hundreds of them at their house. Thor and Elaine created a Paradise here on earth.
Thor and Elaine were the perfect couple and meant to be together. They were married for many years, and suddenly this wonder named Leanne happened. No one could love a daughter more and no daughter could love her dad more. Although I’m sure we all meet again, it is a comfort to know that Thor lives on in Leanne and her children.

I will always remember Thor’s infectious smile. We would talk endlessly when he came to the barn and he could always make me laugh. I trusted him with many confidences… his kindness was all encompassing.

I don’t want my heritage of joy to die."
A heritage of joy is his gift to all who knew him.

Thor was my farrier for many decades, and always arrived with a smile, a hug and lots of stories to share. He was a wonderful person, talented horseman, and loved to talk about our shared nordic heritage. My deepest condolences to his family, who I never met in person, but heard many lovely stories about over the years, as his passing is huge loss. Thank you Thor, for all your years of dedication to the horses in your life (and the owners who treasured you!).

Thor was my farrier and friend for many years. I always enjoyed his visits. He was kind and gentle with the horses and always had a joke to tell ..which he laughed more heartily than anyone else. I loved chatting with him about nature and learned so much from him about all things flora and fauna. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

Sincere condolences to the Micheelsen Family. I was one of Thor's very many clients for having horses hooves trimmed when I lived on the Wonnaccott Farm just down the highway on other side of the 402. I remember that Thor was the best farrier and horse handler around, and that he always had funny stories and jokes to tell while he worked away.
May you be resting peacefully Thor, alongside a cool babbling brook watching birds and butterflies !!
