Obituary of Joyce Adelia Marie Sutherland

Peacefully passed away at University Hospital on Thursday, September 4, 2025, in her 99th year. Formerly of Komoka, Joyce was called home to Glory to be with her Lord and Saviour.

Joyce was known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. A devoted member of her church and community, she spent many years volunteering at Parkwood Hospital and offering kindness wherever she went. Her love for her family was fierce and unconditional, and she lived her life in service to others — a true example of grace, compassion, and strength.

Beloved wife of the late Gilbert “Gil” Sutherland, with whom she shared over 66 wonderful years. Loving mother of Brian Sutherland (Dawn Duncan) of London, and Linda Dakin (Bill) of Strathroy. Proud grandmother of Jordan (Lauren), Adam (Laura Cutler), Jacob (Emily Wilcox), Lukas (Aisha Grant-Strickland), and Mikayla Dakin. Cherished great-grandmother of Tyler and Briella Sutherland, and Riley Wilcox.

Joyce will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Barbara and Audrey Sutherland, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings Bob (Ruth) and Hugh (Grace) Munro, and by her in-laws Walter, Clifford, Joyce-Ann, and Verna Sutherland.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the ELLIOTT-MADILL FUNERAL HOME (22424 Adelaide Road, Mount Brydges) on Sunday, September 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A private funeral service and interment will follow at Mount Brydges Cemetery on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to West Park Church or the London Health Sciences Foundation.
