Obituary of Richard John Pierre Tusch

The family of Richard Tusch is heartbroken to announce his passing on August 22nd, surrounded by loved ones.

Richard lived life with grit, laughter, and determination. As a serial entrepreneur, he started a lot of businesses and always had another idea waiting to be launched. He was best known for his real estate career, building The Tusch Real Estate Group with his daughter Georgia. Together they became a trusted team in the community—most people will remember the countless videos they filmed together, where Richard had a knack for stealing the spotlight with his signature move and larger-than-life personality.

With his son Billy and Marty Welsh, Richard co-founded Pollinative, a non-profit dedicated to protecting pollinators and raising awareness about their importance. From there came Bee Brick, a company creating sustainable nesting spaces for bees. Richard was immensely proud of these ventures, pouring his heart into them as part of his mission to change the world. He could spark a conversation about bees with anyone—and his enthusiasm was as unforgettable as his vision.

Richard was known for his luck, his quick wit, and some of the best one-liners and sayings you’d ever hear. His humour, easygoing nature, and positive outlook were infectious, and he carried them everywhere he went.

A true connector, Richard had a gift for checking in, making introductions, and bringing people together. Many will remember his famous “men’s nights” in the shop, where pool was played, stories were stretched, and laughter went on late into the night.

At home, Richard was happiest as “Popo.” His six grandchildren—Jameson, Rowan, Bubba, Mason, Beau, and Ozzy—were his world, and he bragged about them endlessly. He was a devoted father to Bobby (Rochelle), Billy (Natalie), and Georgia, and will be deeply missed by his loving partner Isabel and her daughter Katie.

Richard is predeceased by his parents, George and Karen Tusch, and by his wife, Lori Tusch. He is survived by his siblings (Glen, Mario, Vera, Monica), children, grandchildren, his partner Isabel, and a wide circle of family and friends. His circle of love extended beyond his immediate family—he shared unbreakable bonds with Dave and Sam Goodhand, who became like family, and with Martin Moore, his best friend of many years. Richard also held strong, lasting connections with his sister and brother-in-laws (The Lukings Clan) and extended family on both sides, including his many nieces and nephews, all of whom he treasured deeply.

Richard’s warmth, humour, and generosity made him unforgettable. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, lifting spirits with a joke, a song, or simply his presence.

A Celebration of Rick’s life will be held at the Delaware Community Centre, 2652 Gideon Dr, Delaware, on Saturday, September 6th from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, Richard would have loved nothing more than for friends and family to place a Bee Brick in their garden come spring.

Richard left this world the way he lived in it—surrounded by people he loved. His legacy of laughter, love, and connection will carry on in all who knew him.
