Obituary of Beatrice Marie Nicholas

Peacefully at home and surrounded by her family, on August 20, 2025 in her 89th year, Yakos^niyostha Beatrice Nicholas of Oneida Nation began her journey back across the stars to Skyworld.

Beatrice was predeceased by her husband Charles Nicholas and her parents Rachel Cornelius nee Summers and Alan Cornelius.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Charlene Deleary (Mike), Charles Nicholas (Darlene), Sheila Nicholas, Teresa Nicholas, Kelly Nicholas (Sim), and Ed Nicholas (Lisa).

Treasured grandmother to: Mike Deleary Jr. (Victoria), Sarah Deleary (Maggie), Dustin Deleary (Charlotte), Samantha Doxtator, Eric Nicholas (Bevy), Brayden Nicholas, Tanya Nicholas, Tehokat Nicholas (Shania), Kaila Schuyler (Mya), Emily Schuyler, Kirk Nicholas (Alvira), Courtney Riley (Sean), Charlee Riley (Nick), Willow Riley (James), Chelsea Moon (Donald), Whitney Nicholas (Matt), Patterson Antone (Brittany), Nicholas Antone, Harrison Antone, Kyle Dolson (Nicole), Jessica Dolson (Skylar), Aiyana Nicholas (Jack). Lovingly remembered by great-grandchildren: Leah, Allison, Sydney, Payton, Maddox, Azzy, Eric Jr., Lovey, Nate, Kaine, Jackson, Trezdon, Tiraya, Treyzon, Daylin, Lathuweyatha, Bryston, Lily, Bella, Maddy, Henley, Barrett, Alexander, Manson, Shakweden, Nick, Chase, Kallianna, Zilyn, Rownen, Hendrik, Claire, RJ, Levi, Sadie, Saige, Spencer, Shelden, Dominick, Alex, and Sophia.

Predeceased by precious granddaughters Sasha Doxtator and Amelia (Wuggy) Nicholas.

Treasured Auntie to many nieces and nephews.

Special cousin/friend to: Betty and daughter Michelle, Sue, Ken, Melinda, Wes, Cheryl, Paramedic Heather, Deanne and Arnold, Ann (predeceased), and all her care providers.

Yakos^niyosta Beatrice Nicholas will be remembered as a National Treasure across Ukwehuwe County. She was the Ota’séhte Wolf Clanmother for the Oneida Nation, a fluent Oneida speaker, and lifelong learner and teacher. She loved sharing the language and opened her door to anyone who needed the help. She also loved to travel and visit friends and family in Oneida New York and Wisconsin. She had many creative and artistic talents that included beading, sewing, and gardening. Beatrice was a dedicated Major League Baseball fan, often cheering on the Blue Jays games at home. She will be remembered for her warmth, great cooking, quick wit and humor, and her love for bingo. Her knowledge and love will live on through everyone that knew her, and she will always be an adored Yukhihsótha.

 

Family will receive friends at Beatrice’s home, 1081 River Road on Thursday, August 21st, 2025 after 4 pm until Saturday, August 23rd at 10 am.  Celebration of Beatrice’s life will be held at the RIVER ROAD LONGHOUSE on Saturday commencing at 11 am.  Interment Longhouse Cemetery, Nicholas Road.
