Obituary of Diane Elsie Waters

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Elsie Waters (nee Hicks) on Monday, August 4th, 2025 after a brief illness. Diane was predeceased by her husband Robert Waters (1994) and is survived her loving daughter Lisa Leech (Brian) and grandchildren Robbie and Danielle. Diane was a beloved Sister-in-law, Aunt, cousin and friend to many. Born in St. Albans, England in 1941 she married her childhood sweetheart Rob in 1963 before moving to Canada in 1967.

Her greatest passions were teaching which she did for many years at Delaware Central School and the Dog world. Teaching at the elementary level Diane was proud to inspire young minds and challenge them to be their best selves. In her late years of teaching Diane often remarked how special it was to be teaching the children of those students she had taught in her earlier years. Early in their life in Canada Diane and Rob got their first Rhodesian Ridgeback, which kindled a passion for dog breeding and competitive dog showing. What started with one Ridgeback soon became a pack which eventually included Whippets as well. Through the years , they bred and showed many champions.

Its hard to sum up a life in a few paragraphs but to her family and the people who loved her, Diane was a true friend a mentor and teacher. There will be a gathering at the Elliott Hall (22424 Adelaide Road, Mount Brydges) at the rear of the funeral home on Saturday, August 9th, 2025 commencing at 12:30pm. Please come and share your memories of Diane. In lieu of flowers donations to the Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue Inc. would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
