Jill, Madelyn, Cooper, Beatrice and all of Tony’s extended family. Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt condolences on your loss. The heavy hearts all of you must have will not be lightened or healed easily or promptly. I considered Tony a good friend and trusted colleague. I was unaware he had left us so suddenly and regrettably missed his funeral and the ability to offer you this message in person. My name is Mike Overdulve. I worked with Tony and we are distant cousins. I am so sorry you are all hurting there is little I could say or offer to ease that sense of emptiness. The only thing I could say is that Tony lived life to the fullest in every aspect of his being. He set an example for all of us to follow. Tony was a gentleman he was kind and giving. His smile was warm and welcoming. He loved and was loved by so many. For all of those we can be both grateful and thankful we were given moments with him. Tony enriched all of our lives. He will be missed and his memory cherished by us all. The world was a much better place with Tony in it. We can all take comfort in knowing that Tony has left this world a much better place for all of us to share. Thank you Tony until we meet again.

I worked with Tony for many years and had the pleasure of attending a few Tiger games with him at the old Tiger Stadium. Tony was a joy to spend time with and a true gentleman
I was fortunate to recently run into Tony at local gun shop where he met my eldest son who shares same the passion of the outdoors. Tony, as always, was his friendly self and shared some of his experiences and knowledge with my son.

To Tony’s family,
I wanted to share my heartfelt condolences with you after hearing about Tony’s passing. Though I had only recently met him through my uncle Mike Costello, he made a lasting impression on me in a very short time.
Tony’s knowledge of the outdoors and his willingness to share what he knew stood out immediately. As I worked on my cabin not far from yours, he was quick to offer advice, thoughtful insights, and practical solutions. It was clear that this wasn’t just knowledge, but an enthusiasm for the project.
Even in our brief interactions, I could see the kind of person he was: genuine, wise, and always willing to lend a hand. I’m grateful to have crossed paths with him and will carry his advice with me as I continue my own journey in the woods.

Tony and I became friends as co workers but it was in retirement that I really enjoyed his company. Spending time at his cottage or on road trips to races in Appalachia, there was always lots to talk about and Tony was knowledgeable on many topics. He loved to talk about his family and was so proud of his kids and their accomplishments. Wherever we went he would engage with people and try to learn something from them. I am so sorry! Tony was a kind and funny guy. This pic gave me a smile amidst the sadness because when he was getting ready to retire Tony told me his plan was to ‘live in the woods and be feral and my uniform will be lumberjack shirts with the sleeves ripped off’. I pointed out his wife might not love that so he laughed and said ‘for fancy dates I’ll keep the sleeves on’.

When I came to London Police in 2003, Tony welcomed me like a brother. I had the priveledge and pleasure of knowing Tony as a colleague, a neighbor and a friend. I saw Tony 2 weeks ago and we chatted for half an hour, we could have chatted forever. I will always remember Tony driving his old red F150 around and walking his dog all over Mount Brydges. Tony is my cousin and though we didn’t know each other as adults, I spent many fun days with Tony and his sister, Bernadette, when they visited my parents cottage over the years of our childhood. What I remember most about Tony was his quiet kindness. Even as a kid, he had such a genuine heart. He was very easy to be around and I cherish my memories of those days, playing at the lake, enjoying the beach and the sunshine. The world has lost a truly lovely man in Tony. May he rest in peace and know he lives on forever in our hearts.
