Obituary of Mary Catherine Elliott
On Thursday, May 15th, 2025, Mary Catherine Elliott (née Crawford) passed away peacefully at St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital in her 85th year.
Beloved wife of Earl Elliott for 67 years (married in 1958). Loving mother of Laurie, and Dave (Cathy). Proud grandmother of Kaleigh Eichenberger (Kevin), Craig Elliott (Kyleigh), Kelly Elliott Hardy (Dustin), and Crystal Taback (Nathan). Cherished great-grandmother to Miller and Kaycen; Makenna, Levi, and Aleena; Isla and Dax; Eleanor, as well as bonus great-grandchildren.
Daughter of the late John A. Crawford and Christie (McNeil), Mary was predeceased by her siblings, Sarah Stover and Alec Crawford. Fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Ted and sister-in-law Sharon.
Born on December 7, 1940, Mary was raised on a farm outside Strathroy, Ontario. She grew up a devoted member of North Caradoc Presbyterian Church. After marrying Earl, the couple settled in Melbourne, where they started their family. Mary became a lifetime member of Cooks United Church and the Melbourne Agricultural Society Ladies Division.
Mary had a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for camping, gardening, her fitness class and volunteering in her community. She was widely known and admired for her incredible baking and cooking.
Mary was a kind and thoughtful woman, known for her warmth, strength, and the love she gave so freely. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family will receive friends at Cooks United Church, 7899 Parkhouse Drive, Mount Brydges on Thursday, May 22nd from 11 am to 1 pm where the Celebration of Mary’s life will commence at 1 pm. Inurnment Cooks Cemetery, Mount Brydges.
