



Obituary of Valerie Dialene George
After a short illness at St. Thomas Hospital on Friday, April 4th, 2025 Valerie Dialene George (nee: Grosbeck) our beloved mother and grandmother of Oneida Nation of the Thames and Chippewas of the Thames, Wolf Clan, in her 75th year. Her spirit name was Talking Bright Woman.
Valerie was the heart of our home and family. She raised three children, Christina Mae, Billy Jack (Kristen) and Lynnette (Ryan). Grandchildren Starla, Ashley, Kingsley, Sophia, Christopher N, Billy, Tyler, Kylie, Channin, Dreylan, Jacob, Christopher, Brooklyn, Tallulah and Lachlyn and many Great-Grandchildren. Survived by her husband Lance George and her brothers Rawleigh and Jamie. Predeceased by her parents Leslie (2024) and Delcie (2013) Grosbeck, sister Marie Janet (2017) brother Leslie Keith (1967), son-in-law Lance (2015) and precious granddaughter Channon (2018).
Valerie was known for her beautiful smile and kind heart. “Grandma Val” to many, her heart endured to love and support many people in our community. She will be lovingly remembered by her aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Valerie had many years of service for our people. She worked as a teacher assistant, and in child welfare. She achieved her Bachelor of Social Work and was most proud of her work for National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP). She shared the White Bison Wellbriety teachings and believed everyone has their own “Strength from Within”. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed.
Family will receive friends at Valerie’s home, 825 River Road, Oneida on Saturday, April 5th after 2pm until Monday, April 7th at 9am. Funeral for Valerie will be celebrated at the ELLIOTT-MADILL FUNERAL HOME on Monday, April 7th, 2025 commencing at 11 am. Inurnment Longhouse Cemetery at a later date. www.elliottmadill.com
