Obituary of Josiah Robert Mirasty
Peacefully at home on Sunday, March 30th, 2025, Josiah Robert Mirasty of Chippewa of the Thames 1st Nation passed away in his 67th year, surrounded by love and family.
A devoted husband to Beauty Mirasty, Josiah was a pillar of strength, kindness, and endless laughter. He was a proud father to his son, Josiah (Jolene), and a loving grandfather to Jace (Jessy) Bonn-Mirasty, Jordain, Jaims, Jaydince, and Justice (Alex) Mirasty. He lived to welcome his first great-granddaughter, Freya Bonn-Mirasty. His love for his family was boundless, and his presence brought joy and comfort to all.
To know Josiah was to know laughter. Even in his final days, he found ways to joke and bring light to those around him, reminding everyone that joy could be found even in the hardest moments. His humour was a gift, his laughter contagious, and his spirit unbreakable. Josiah was selfless, always putting others before himself. He helped his family and friends with unwavering love and compassion.
Josiah is now reunited with his parents, Josiah and Ruby Mirasty, where he will be embraced with the same love and warmth he shared during his time on Earth. He is predeceased by his brother Greg, nephews Cameron, Brandon, and little John, and nieces Melissa, Dayna, and brother and good friend Bobby. He is also predeceased by his in-laws' parents, Archie and Love Oma, as well as his siblings, Bonnie, Brenda, Bud, Elliot, and nephew Jason, and niece Shannon.
Josiah is survived by his dear friend and brother, Wayne Grosbeck (Arlene), and his beloved siblings: John, Leo, Harley (Val), Heather (Late Don), Brenda (John) Nicholas, Jacqueline (Elmer), Konrad (Diane) Mirasty, and Dale Doxtator. His legacy lives on in the many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will cherish his memory. His stories will be told, his jokes remembered, and his spirit will continue to live in the hearts of those who loved him.
Though he may have left this world, Josiah’s laughter will echo in the memories of all who knew him. He leaves behind the reminder that life is best lived with humour, love, and family by your side.
Friends will be received by the Family at the Elliott-Madill Funeral Home, on Tuesday, April 1st, from 6 pm to 8pm where the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd commencing at 11 am. Interment Colborne Cemetery Chippewa. Luncheon to follow by potluck. Food donations are welcome.
