Obituary of Harry Evan Doxtator
Suddenly on February 22, 2025, in Ponce Inlet, Florida, Harry Evan “Sohuwe:se’” Doxtator (John), of Oneida Nation, Wolf Clan, in his 79th year.
Beloved husband of Linda. Adored father of Sheri, Gwen, and Krista (Mannie), godfather to Judith. Dear grandfather of Stina, Kenz, Truman, Jonathan (Shanti), and Archie. Uncle-Dad to Crystal, Keith, and Scott. Dear eldest brother of Barb and Marion. Fondly remembered brother-in-law of Mary (Monty) and Elfreda.
Reunited with parents Christina and Ronald, and brothers R. Cecil and Darryl “Tick”.
Harry will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the Oneida Nation community. Harry dedicated his life to fighting for First Nation Rights. He will be remembered for his many contributions as an elected Chief, Councillor, and Grand Chief for Oneida Nation of the Thames. Harry left lasting impacts with various First Nation political organizations locally, regionally and nationally.

Family will receive friends at the ELLIOTT-MADILL FUNERAL HOME, Mount Brydges on Thursday, March 6th from 6 – 8 pm. Funeral service to celebrate Harry’s life will be held at the Oneida Community Centre, 2017 Ballpark Road, Oneida on Friday, March 7th commencing at 11 am. Interment River Road United Church Cemetery, Oneida.
