Obituary of Gus Backx
Peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 Gus Backx of Mount Brydges in his 81st year. Loving husband of 57 yrs to Thea Backx. Cherished father of Rob Backx of London and Karen (Brad) Coward of Mount Brydges. Proud Papa of Chris Budd, Julia and Rachel Coward and predeceased by grandson Cole Budd (2020). Predeceased by his parents Henry and Mary Backx and his brother John Backx (2015). Remembered brother-in-law of Catherine (Frank) VanderBurgt, Jane (Lou) Vanderheyden, Adrian (Kathy) Versteegden, Marge Versteegden (predeceased Albert). Also predeceased by Joanne and Hank Dorssers, Louise and Harry Kennes, Tony and Anne Versteegden. Will be sadly missed by his many Nieces and Nephews.
Dad was a well known sheet metal worker for over 56 years and was still actively working at the age of 80. Was hard working and always willing to help with anything “he was your guy”. Above anything else his pride and joy was his family whom he loved fiercely. It gives us some comfort to know you are reunited with Cole. We will love you and miss you always. Until we meet again Dad.
Friends will be received by family at the Elliott-Madill Funeral Home (22424 Adelaide Road, Mount Brydges) on Tuesday, February 25th, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Charles Catholic Church, (244 Stella Avenue), Glencoe on Wednesday, February 26th at 11 am. Father David Johnston Officiating. Cremation to follow with interment Sacred Heart in the Fields Cemetery, Mount Brydges at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Salthaven Wildlife (P.O Box 601, Mount Brydges, Ont., N0L 1W0) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
