Obituary of Glen Crandall

In his 100th year, Glenwood Elston Crandall, died peacefully surrounded by his family, February 21st, 2025, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.

Born of Wilton Grove, Middlesex County, May 6th, 1925, to Ira Vernon and Cora Mae Crandall (nee Powers), Glen had a love for learning at an early age growing up on his family farm with his sister Verda. Earning a certificate in Food Health and Safety through the University of Toronto, Glen began a career as a Health Inspector before returning home to pursue a life as a proud dairy farmer. In June 1952, he married the love of his life Evelyn (nee Trott), together raising 3 wonderful children, Connie (Frank), Cathy (Frank) and Bob (Jackie). Glen would go on to share life lessons with his 8 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren, always a great storyteller leading their adventures together.

Glen was an active member of his community in retirement, serving as a bus driver, volunteering for VON’s ‘’Meals on Wheels’’ and supporting his local Mt. Brydges Lion’s and Optimists club. Glen and Evie were dedicated in their service to God and served as active members of Cook’s United Church. Whether reading a good book, or whistling a tune, his positivity for life was contagious. Glen believed in love and fairness and even in his last days thought of others first, before himself.

Glen’s family would like to express their gratitude to the homecare staff of ParaMed and the excellent care led by Dr. Carter, Paula and the staff at Southwest Middlesex Health Centre and Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.

In honour of his 100th birthday, Glen’s family would like to invite friends and loved ones to a Celebration of Life on May 10th, 2025, at 2 pm at the Strathroy Lions’ Club, 432 Albert Street Strathroy, Ontario. Cremation has taken place, and Glen will be buried beside his love Evie in the Cooks’ United Church Cemetery.
