In the depths of addiction’s grip, a journey begins to unfold,A climb through darkness, a battle untold. It’s not just about the struggle you faced,But those who answered, who never left your side, embraced.
Who picked you up when you stumbled and fell,Cleaned your apartment, wiped away the hell.Who washed your clothes, cleaned the vomit’s stain,Who stayed by your side through the darkest of pain.
They took your calls at 2:00 am,Responded to your texts, never condemned. They called the Uber to take you to care,Drove you to the hospital, showing they’re there.
They took you to the movies, to distract your mind,Talked you through the darkness, so patient and kind.In our hearts, we know this time is not in vain,But who didn’t answer when you called out for aid.
It’s the difference between staying or leaving,No more tears of fear, no more pain deceiving. The battle you fight now is not one of shame,Rest, dear child, your soul no longer to blame.
From heaven, smile upon those left behind,For they’ll spend a lifetime, their conscience to find. Each time they wash their hands, they’ll be reminded,That they weren’t there, their absence never blinded.
They may try their hardest, but your blood will remain,A reminder of the love, the loss, the pain. But let them find solace, let them find peace,For you fought your battle, and now you’re released.
