Obituary of Grace Heerpsing

Grace Heersping (nee Aarsen), 88, formally of Komoka, Ontario, died peacefully in her sleep on April 15, 2017 at her home. Grace was the loving wife of the late John Heersping (2012), and much-loved mother of John and Joanne Vis of London, Gordon and Joanne Vis of St. Catharines, Wilma Wade of Leduc, Alberta, Arnold Vis of Philippines, Diane and Miles Van Doesburg of Leduc Alberta, Marlene Vis of Edmonton Alberta, Bill and Mary Heersping of Niagara Falls, and Bev Heersping of St. Catharines. Predeceased by sons, George Vis (1984), Albert Vis (2001) and Hank Heersping (1991). She will dearly missed by her grandchildren Sara Vis, Daniel Vis, Patrick Vis, Klaas Vis, Eric Vis, Nathan Vis, Jessica Shroeder, Marco Honders, Karin Honders, Tamara Kelm, Joelle Vis, Joanna Scarborough, Bradley Vis, Maegan Vis, Vanessa Travnik, Amy Van Doesburg, Elyse Van Doesburg, Nethanel Van Doesburg, Joel Van Doesburg, Josiah Van Doesburg, Heidi MacDonald, Naomi MacDonald, Barbara Shorrock, Jan Heersping, Christopher Heersping, Brandon Heersping and numerous great-grandchildren. She is survived by the love of her siblings Pieter and Ellen Aarsen, Greta Stephany, and Harry and Hennie Aarsen. Grace was born in Wolfheze, Holland on April 16, 1928. As a young girl she experienced the bombing of Wolfheze as part of Operation Market Garden, which displaced her and her family. Separated, she became a refugee in her own country. This experience formed her life. The family survived, reunited and then dispersed. Newly married, Grace with her husband Klaas Vis, immigrated to Canada in 1951. While living in Alberta, British Columbia and finally settling in Ontario, 8 children were born to Grace and Klaas. In 1980, Grace married John Heersping. Over their 32 years together they enjoyed travel to New Zealand, Florida, Holland and western Canada visiting various family members. Funeral service will be held at Hope Community Christian Reformed Church in Mount Brydges on April 19, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Phil Apoll officiating. Interment will be held the next day, April 20, 2017 at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
