Robert "Bob" Brunet


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Brunet, peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice of London on August 25th, 2017 in his 71st year, surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Diane for 48 years.  Amazing father, mentor, and friend to his children, Rob (Sinead) Brunet, and Heather Brunet (VanderWal).  Proud Papa and Grandpa of Julia, William, and James Brunet and Carmen and Natalie VanderWal.  Survived by brother John (Sue) Brunet of Mt. Brydges.  Predeceased by sister Margaret Ann Oliver (2011), brother Henry Brunet (2013), father Henry Brunet (1972) and mother Katie Brunet (2012). Cherished son-in-law of Willie and Edna DeLeemans; much loved brother-in-law of Don and Angela DeLeemans, Cyril and Pat Soetemans and Marilyn Brunet.  Predeceased by sister-in-law Lorraine Soetemans (2007).  Sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.  Thank you to Dr. Teeple, Para Med nurse Stephanie, and the VON Palliative Care Team who cared for Bob, allowing him to enjoy his final days at home.   
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Robert’s main passion was farming.  Raised on a tobacco farm in Mt. Brydges, he soon bought his own farm in 1969 where he would grow tobacco, ginseng, cash crops and raise a family with his wife, Diane.  
A lifelong resident of Mount Brydges, Robert was a member of the Mount Brydges Lions Club for 45 years.  He was proud to serve his community through many special Lions projects over the years. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, of which he was a chartered member at Sacred Heart Parish in Delaware.
In their retirement, Bob and Diane have enjoyed their time at Green Haven trailer park in Grand Bend where they have made many new friends and cherished memories.
Friends and neighbours will be received by the family at the Elliott-Madill Funeral Home - Mt. Brydges  on Sunday, August 27th from 2pm to 4pm and from 7 to 9pm, with a Lion's Service taking place at 6:30 p.m under the direction of the Lion's Club of Mount Brydges. Funeral mass to be celebrated on Monday, August 28th from Sacred Heart Parish in Delaware, commencing at 10:30 a.m. Father Dennis Wilhelm officiating. Interment Sacred Heart in the Fields cemetery, Mount Brydges. Donations to the Mt. Brydges Lions Club, or St. Joseph's Hospice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.  A memorial tree will be planted at the Lions Park in Mt. Brydges as a living tribute to Robert.
